All human beings deserve to love and be loved.
It’s our pursuit of being worthy to be loved that causes problems.
Essentially, our seeking of approval from others.
That, is the killer problem.
I would argue that most business owners work hard, harder than they need, because their identity is built around being productive.
Or something similar.
- I have a desire to be loved and accepted
- rich people who work hard are respected and admired
- I need to project that identity to others for others to see
- therefor my identity is directly tied to my worthiness of love
It’s not a flawless model. The second line could be replaced with a totally different sentence.
- Poor people who work hard are respected
- The people who are the biggest and strongest are…
- Beautiful thin people are…
But you get the point.
The fact is that yes, this is way way heavier than a marketing email is supposed to be.
But my point, is that you are worthy of love and “enough” without achieving meaningless arbitrary numbers.
Income, sales, followers, leads, speaking events. Facts, data, events – all these are completely worthless in the drive to become worthy or even, loving yourself.
No one is lying on their deathbed saying “I’m glad I spoke at 20 events a year”.
If I could have broken free of this connection sooner, I’d have been at peace and harmony much earlier.
