5 AM: Wake up and either immediately head downstairs to my conservatory/outside to exercise OR head straight to the gym
Mixture of weights, gymnastics, cardio and metabolic conditioning.
Currently I’m working on muscle ups.
Finish around 7 AM to 8AM. 1 to 2 hours.
8:30 AM: Write 1000 words of my next book. Whatever the book is, just write. Get the fingers moving.
I write how many words I’ve written down on a whiteboard, add 1000 to it and write until I’ve hit at least that number.
Takes about 30 – 45 minutes.
9 AM: Breakfast.
2 eggs, 125g beef mince, milk, protein, creatine, black coffee. Maybe a banana or apple also.
9:30 AM: Write 2 – 3 daily emails. Like these ones you’re reading right now. Some are very very short, some are anecdotes, some are questions, some are how to guides.
Ideally, by July I’ll have 365 emails written so I can take 6 months off.
Takes about 30 minutes (ish).
10 AM: YouTube time.
This is the core of what I do. Depending on where we are in our project cycle, it’s one of four tasks.
- Idea generation. Coming up with dozens of ideas for our next video. The packaging is more important than the content of the video. Which means the overlap between topic, thumbnail and title is where I spent 90% of my time and energy
- Title and thumbnail generation
- Writing introductions
- Writing scripts
- Filming
Editing, posting and analytics are taken care of by the team.
10:45 AM: Get a snack – flapjack, banana, bagel. Something like that.
11 AM: Continue with brain work for YouTube. Ideas, scripts etc.
1 PM: Lunch.
And somewhere in all this busy schedule I find time to self congratulate myself on how clever and disciplined I am.
