Every WordPress business in the world needs to see this

I believe that your WordPress business has more potential that you realise.

I want to show you that what you enjoy about your business and your work, is only scratching the surface of what's possible with you and your WordPress business.

We're so used to just selling websites, that even if we want to sell other products and services, we get trapped in the website mindset.

If you want to expand and grow the opportunities that you can see, with your WordPress business, your mind needs a shake up.

Maybe you can't see just how far your passion can go. You've already done the hard part. You've started a business.

Do you really want to limit what's possible now? Why block yourself into one product or service when there are an infinite number of ways to help your clients?

Seth Godin said “There’s no shortage of remarkable ideas, what’s missing is the will to execute them.” That's where you come in. With will and strength and planning, you can show the world some truly remarkable ideas.

Thomas J. Watson, the chairman and CEO of IBM, supports Seth's quote by saying “The great accomplishments of man have resulted from the transmission of ideas and enthusiasm.”

Richard Branson said “A business has to be involving, it has to be fun, and it has to exercise your creative instincts.” This means you NEED to grow your offerings and value. You have to exercise your potential to help customers if you want to grow yourself.

Whatever your stage of running a WordPress-based business, whether you're a beginner or an expert. If you've been running a business for years or if you've just started. And whatever you do to help your customers, be it design, development, security, updates, plugins, themes, copywriting, marketing...whatever you WANT to start growing CAN be done.

So often I hear WordPress businesses say to me “I'm not that great at design” or “I'm sure there are better marketers out there”. We all feel impostor syndrome sometimes but you're not alone.

You ARE a great designer. You ARE  a great developer, or marketer, or copywriter. The reason you're great is because you can help people. You can help businesses, entrepreneurs and other people who really aren't good at design, or development or coding.

It's not about being the best anyway, it's about helping other human beings and being a good person to be around.

Mark Cuban, the American businessman, investor, author, television personality, and philanthropist, said “The NBA is never just a business. It’s always business. It’s always personal. All good businesses are personal. The best businesses are very personal.”

If you WANT to help more people, you don't have to just stick with WordPress websites. The potential for your business to grow past websites is enormous.

And no, it's not about being a huge business mogul or venture capitalist. It's about finding the business that suits your lifestyle. It's about being happy. Happy with what you can do, happy with who you know and happy with what you experience.

We have bills. We have family to support. We have real life to deal with. Reality bites, as they say. But crumbling under that pressure or submitting to quitting. Or worse yet, just accepting it and taking the low paying work because you have to, does NOT have to be the only way.

Dr. Seuss, the only philosopher worth listening to in my opinion, said “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself, any direction you choose.”

We all want to pay the bills and have a little to spare. We all have family to support and friends we want to visit. It's OK that we have stuff we want to own, buying things to reward yourself is a perfectly acceptable goal.

But if you really want those things. If you want to experience travelling to other places and being safer with money. If you want to support family and make sure they feel safe. Then the strongest route to those places, is helping more people with what you can do.

But you have to WANT to change what you can deliver and build and create. I love WordPress, I absolutely love what we can do with it. It's helped so many businesses start up and flourish.

But your business has potential to grow past what you think you can deliver with a content management system. We're trapped in website thinking. We get trapped in low-value clients and $1000 websites.

We can do so much more to help people, grow our businesses and the best part? There's plenty to go around.

We all want to make more money. At it's core, that's what we're trying to do. Making and keeping more money. But we can only do that if we help more people.

You need to help more people and you need to WANT to help more people. It's not enough to have the ideas, you need to execute them. You need ship ideas, to steal again from Seth Godin.

“Success in business requires training and discipline and hard work. But if you’re not frightened by these things, the opportunities are just as great today as they ever were.” David Rockefeller said that. He knew a thing or two about making a buck

“If you work just for money, you’ll never make it, but if you love what you’re doing and you always put the customer first, success will be yours.” Ray Kroc said that. If you don't know who Ray Kroc is, Google him. He's the reason everyone has had a BigMac.

Orison Swett Marden, who founded SUCCESS magazine in 1897, said “The golden rule for every business man (or woman) is this: Put yourself in your customer’s place.”

Can you help those people? Can you help your customers? Do you WANT to help those customers?

What do they need? What are their goals?

Do you have any idea how valuable clarity and direction are for other businesses? We're drowning in content. Videos, blog posts, infographics, memes, GIFs...the list is endless.

Your customers are suffering from the same information overload. This IS NOT the age of information, people don't want more information. What they want is insight, direction and clarity.

“The absolute fundamental aim is to make money out of satisfying customers.” Sir John Egan said that. He's the guy that turned Jaguar Cars around in the 1980's.

Imagine a restaurant that only sold one meal. The chef was trained only to cook one meal. No matter what the time of day...you guessed it. One meal.

You'd get REALLY good at producing, marketing and delivering that one meal. But think of the HUNDREDS of other things people would want to eat and consume in your restaurant.

Drinks, sides, dessert, other cuisines, eating at different times of day and more. It doesn't have to be an endless number of items. But even increasing your product range by 4 items would be a 400% increase in the number of products you could sell to your customers.

OK so the analogy is a little heavy handed. But you see my point.

We have a world of opportunity available to us, but we're held back by ourselves. Not because we're not capable, but because we're unsure or without direction.

Your business has the potential to become the most exciting WordPress business in your industry. You have the potential to be the entrepreneur that can't help but grow businesses. You have the potential to become a marketing specialist and expert, who transforms WordPress websites into growth machines.

No one else is holding you back, no one else is telling you that you can't do it. No one is telling you that you have to stick to just websites.

If you want to start giving more and helping more, you can do all that.

You need direction, sure. You also need a plan. But that can happen. It's not going to appear tomorrow, you can get the plan TODAY.

You can get direction, clarity and strategy today if you needed. There is no time like the present. You are already the smartest entrepreneur in the room because you have a goal, purpose and direction. It's just waiting for you to pick it up.

You can have someone keep you accountable. You can get advice on what to do with money. You can reach out and rely on and trust other people.

I believe in you. I believe in your business. I believe you'll email me today, or tomorrow or sometime in the future, telling me that you decided to go beyond your WordPress business and start delivering more.
