Isn’t it tempting to think that somewhere out there, someone has the keys to the kingdom of success?
The idea that if we just find the right mentor, the right book, or the right podcast, we’ll uncover a magical ‘3 Secrets to Success’ is tantalising, to say the least.
This very idea led me to pose a question to Daniel Priestley, “What would you say are the three secrets to success?”
His response was not what I expected.
Instead of offering his insights, he threw the ball back into my court.
He asked me to list the top ten pieces of advice I’d give to my younger self.
A bit of introspection later, my top three pieces of advice emerged crystal clear:
- Have the courage to be disliked.
- Commit to the result until you see results.
- Take action today and change it later.
It was enlightening.
The ‘secrets’ I was seeking externally were actually within me all along, wrapped in my experiences and my perception of the world.
And that’s the beautiful, yet often overlooked truth: we already hold the keys to our unique version of success.
Your top three pieces of advice might be different from mine, and that’s the whole point.
Your success won’t be carved out of someone else’s wisdom but your own.
There’s no universal ‘secret’ to success because success isn’t universal.
It’s deeply personal, intimately linked to who we are, what we value, and how we choose to navigate the world.
So, take a moment and ask yourself, “What advice would I give to my younger self?”
Unearth those deeply personal insights and wisdom that only you can offer to yourself.
Remember, it’s not about uncovering the ‘3 Secrets to Success’, it’s about realizing you already know them.
